The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a pavement preservation project will be performed on Route 42 in Cheshire, Prospect, Bethany and Route 61 in Woodbury and Bethlehem starting May 6, 2024. As part of the 2024 Pavement Preservation Program, the purpose of this project is to preserve the pavement surface and extend the serviceability of the pavement structure on Routes 42 and 61. Thin Friction Wearing Course (TFWC) is primarily used on rural highways with low traffic volumes that are structurally in good condition with pavement surfaces that are in good or fair-to-good condition.

The work on Route 42 (Cheshire Road, Mountain Road, Bethany Mountain Road) and Route 42 begins at the intersection of Route 63 (Amity Road) and end at South Brooksvale Road in Cheshire.
