The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT is announcing that the pavement resurfacing of Interstate 95 between Exit 35 and Exit 41 (approximately 6 miles)in Milford and Orange will begin on April 3, 2023.
As part of the 2023 Pavement Preservation Program, the purpose of this project is to replace the existing wearing surface and extend the serviceability of the pavement structure on I-95 and the entrance of exit ramps. This Project includes Fine Milling, Bituminous Concrete Patching, Joint and Crack Filling, placement of Polymer Modified Asphalt (PMA) S0.5 and the installation of Epoxy Pavement Markings and Rumble Strips. The expansion joints will be replaced at 10 bridges and the traffic signal detection systems will be upgraded at seven intersections. Additionally, the existing sidewalk ramps at the ramp termini will be replaced to meet ADA compliance requirements.
DOT Project No. 0083-0274 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut Inc., at a cost of $19,651,967.00 on March 9, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed October 28, 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Motorists can expect multiple lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound six days per week from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. from on or about April 10, 2023 through October 27, 2023.
Traffic control personnel, signing patterns and temporary signalization will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. I-95 ramp closures and associated detours will be set up and taken down each night in accordance with the limitations of operations for the project, starting around April 10, 2023. Updated information will be shared in the future to detail these closures once dates are confirmed.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
