Asphalt Chip Seal in Bethel and Redding

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that lane closures Route 53 in Redding and Route 58 in Bethel will begin on April 17, 2023.  

As part of the 2023 Pavement Preservation Program, the purpose of this Project is to preserve the pavement surface and extend the serviceability of the pavement structure on Routes 53 and 58. Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal is primarily used on rural highways with low traffic volumes that are in structurally good condition with pavement surfaces that are in good or fair-to-good condition.

Route 53 (Redding Road) The work on Route 53 begins at the intersection of Route 107 (Hill Road) [M.P. 13.85] and ends 0.1 mile south of the Bethel town line [M.P. 17.36    The work on Route 58 begins at the intersection of Route 107 (Putnam Park Road) [M.P. 15.79] and ends at the intersection of Route 302 (Milwaukee Avenue) [M.P. 18.58].

DOT Project No. 0174-0460 was awarded to Comer Contracting Incorporated at a cost of $1,723,213.00 on February 15, 2023 and is scheduled to be completed August 4, 2023.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

There will be alternating one way traffic on Routes 53 and Route 58, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00p.m.
