The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the closure of Route 178 over Beaman’s Brook for a bridge replacement project and the implementation of a detour starting on June 21, 2022.
The project consists of the Replacement of Bridge No. 01489 carrying Route 178 over Beaman's Brook in Bloomfield. The replacement structure will be a single span with a clear span of 43 feet between abutment faces supported on integral abutments with piles. A temporary pedestrian bridge has been constructed to accommodate pedestrian traffic.
DOT Project No. 0011-0156 was awarded to The Brunalli Construction Company at a cost of $3,243,475 on December 8, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed November 21, 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

Route 178 will be closed from June 21, 2022 to August 29, 2022. Traffic will be detoured around Bridge No. 01489 through Tyler Street, Route 218 (Cottage Grove Road), and Prospect Street.
