The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the Interstate 84 eastbound Exit 40 on-ramp from New Britain Avenue (Route 71) and the I-84 westbound Exit 40 Off-Ramp to New Britain Avenue (Route 71) in West Hartford will be closed intermittently at night between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., over the next four months, starting on September 6, 2022.

The ramps will be closed intermittently, as necessary to allow for the installation of drainage, milling of existing pavement and the placement of new pavement with lane markings.

DOT Project No. 0155-0171 was awarded to O&G Industries at a cost of $54 million on March 2, 2020 and is scheduled to be completed May 30, 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

DETOUR INFO

A detour for I-84 eastbound Exit 40 On-Ramp will be posted directing traffic easterly along Route 71 (New Britain Avenue), then into South Street, and finally entering I-84 eastbound at Exit 41.

A detour for I-84 westbound Exit 40 Off-Ramp will be posted directing traffic to Exit 39-A following Route 9 southbound to Exit 30.
