The project consists of the rehabilitation of numerous bridges located within the Route 8 and I-84 Interchange and was awarded to Walsh Construction Company at a cost of $152,960,945.27 on April 18, 2018 and is scheduled to be completed June 17, 2023. This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 4, Thomaston.

CLOSURE INFORMATION

The Bank Street on-ramp to Route 8 Southbound will be closed beginning Tuesday, January 4, 2022 through Friday, January 21, 2022 to allow for the installation of temporary supports so that substructure concrete repairs can be made to the bridge.

DETOUR INFORMATION

All traffic looking to access Route 8 Southbound from Bank Street must use Exit 20 on I-84 Westbound and follow the posted detour.  This on-ramp closure will not impact mainline I-84 Westbound traffic and access Exit 19, Route 8 Southbound.  Motorists should follow the detoured sign route along Route 8 Northbound utilizing the U-turn at Exit 35 to then gain access to Route 8 Southbound.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is working to inform motorists and local residents of current and upcoming construction activities through project newsletters, press notices, travel alerts, social media, as well as the project website, https://mixmaster-rehab.com/.  If you have any questions related to construction, please contact us at info@mixmaster-rehab.com.
