Replacement of Bridge on Route 178 over Beamans Brook Bloomfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the commencement of work for the Replacement of Bridge No. 01489 carrying Route 178 over Beaman's Brook starting January 24, 2022

The project will have a replacement structure will be a single span with a clear span of 43 feet between abutment faces supported on integral abutments with piles. A temporary pedestrian bridge will also be constructed to accommodate pedestrian traffic.

DOT Project No. 0011-0156 was awarded to The Brunalli Construction Company of Southington, CT at a cost of $3,243,475.00 on December 8, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed on November 21, 2022. This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 178 (Park Avenue) Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m to 6:00 a,m., Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.

DETOUR INFO: 

A detour will be implemented around Bridge No.01489 by routing traffic through Tyler St, Route 218 (Cottage Grove Rd), and Prospect St during the Summer of 2022. When school is not in session the Contractor shall be allowed to close Route 178 (Park Avenue) for a duration that shall not exceed 70 consecutive days, and detour traffic and pedestrian traffic. The Contractor shall notify the Engineer and the Town of Bloomfield at least 14 days in advance of the start of Route 178 (Park Avenue) closure.
