Replacement and Upgrade of Coordinated Traffic Signal System (CTSS) Equipment in Newington, New Britain, and Wethersfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that preliminary work, including lane closures for the replacement and upgrade of Coordinated Traffic Control System (CTSS) equipment in Newington, New Britain and Wethersfield, is scheduled to begin on or about April 1, 2021.

The project consists of replacing and upgrading the CTSS equipment and  associated items such as trenching, backfilling, new conduits, new mast arms, video detection, new fiber optic cable, and hand holes to complete the new installations. Also, pedestrian modifications such as new sidewalk ramps and pedestrian push buttons will be installed.

Work will be performed at various intersection at the following locations:

New Britain

  • Int. 088-280 Route 175 (East St.) at Paul Manafort Dr.
  • Int. 088-232 Route 175 (East. St.) at Wells St. & Route 9 S.B. Entrance Ramp

Newington

  • Int. 093-250 S.R. 505 (Ella Grasso Blvd.) at Route 9 S.B. Off-Ramp
  • Int. 093-251 S.R. 505 (Fenn Rd.) at Ella Grasso Blvd. & Holly Dr.
  • Int. 093-252 S.R. 505 (Fenn Rd.) at Fenn Road Plaza Driveway

DOT Project No. 0093-0218 was awarded to Paramount Construction, LLC. at a cost of $3,945,590.59 on October 8, 2020, and is scheduled to be completed on November 6, 2021.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Lane closures for ramps, turning roadways and all other project roadways may occur Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.
