Modify Lane Restrictions for the Replacement and Upgrades of Coordinated Traffic Signal System Equipment in the Towns of Berlin, Newington, and Wethersfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing work and daytime lane closures on the Berlin Turnpike beginning November 22, 2021, weather dependent.

 

The project consists of replacing and upgrading the coordinated traffic signal system (CTSS) equipment and the associated items such as trenching, backfilling, new conduits, new mast arms, video detection, new fiber optic cable, and hand holes to complete the new installations. Also, pedestrian modifications such as new sidewalk ramps and pedestrian push buttons. 

DOT Project No. 0007-0250 was awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $ 9,944,143.66 on June 14, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed on May 28,2022. The project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction District 1, Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Lane closures on Route 5 and 15 (Berlin Turnpike) may occur Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. Lane Closures for ramps, turning roadways and all other project roadways may occur Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.
