Milling and Resurfacing Project on Route 217 in Middlefield, Middletown, and Cromwell

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 217 from Route 66 (Meriden Road) to Route 372 (Berlin Road) in Middlefield, Middletown, and Cromwell.

The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 3.84-mile segment of Route 217. This milling portion is scheduled to occur from Monday, May 3, 2021, to Wednesday, May 12, 2021. The resurfacing portion is anticipated to occur from Friday, May 21, 2021, to Thursday, June 10, 2021. No work will be performed on the day before or after the Memorial Day Holiday.

This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2021 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 217 from Route 66 (Meriden Road) to Route 372 (Berlin Road) in Middlefield, Middletown, and Cromwell. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday).

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
