Intersection Improvements on Route 34 at SR 490 and Toddy Hill Road and SR 490 at I-84 Interchange in the Town of Newtown

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announces the start of roadway construction activities for Intersection Improvements on Route 34 at SR 490 and Toddy Hill Road and SR 490 at I-84 Interchange. Work will start the week of October 18, 2021.

The project consists of Intersection Improvements on Route 34 at SR 490 and Toddy Hill Road and SR 490 at I-84 Interchange, in the Town of Newtown.

DOT Project No. 0096-0204 was awarded to A M Rizzo Electrical Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $25,188,198.00 on September 21, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by May 2, 2024. The work is being administered by the State of Connecticut District 4 Office of Construction.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Commencing Monday, October 18, 2021, alternating one-way traffic can be expected for the start of roadway construction. Whenever possible two-way traffic will be maintained.

The Contractor shall not interfere with traffic Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Travelers should expect alternating one-way traffic will be controlled by Municipal Police and Traffic Flaggers.

Additional work hours and ramps detours will be announced at a later date.
