Replacement of Bridge 02627 on Route 111 over Unnamed Brook in Monroe
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction activities for  the replacement of Bridge 02627 carrying Route 111 over an unnamed brook in Monroe. The project will begin on April 24, 2016.
The project consists of the full replacement of the bridge. The new structure will accommodate three 12-foot travel lanes and two 8-foot shoulders. The plan consists of two stages of construction. In stage 1, traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge using the existing lanes and shoulder widths while the western portion of the bridge, roadway, sidewalk, and drainage is constructed. During Stage 2, traffic will be shifted to the portion of the bridge and roadway constructed in Stage 1 using two 11-foot lanes and two 1-foot shoulders. The eastern portion of the bridge and roadway will be constructed during this stage. Ryegate Terrace will need to be closed during this stage of construction. A local detour will be used to maintain access to Ryegate Terrace.
DOT Project No. 0084-0106 was awarded to Guerrera Construction Company Inc. of Oxford, Ct on March 31, 2016 at a cost of $1,974,743.50 and is scheduled for completion in November 2017.
