I-91 Windsor Resurfacing Project Adding Saturday Daytime Work on October 22, 2011 To Complete H.O.V. Lanes and Ramps At Exits 38 and 42

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that on Saturday, October 22, 2011, daytime work is scheduled for the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-91 north and southbound and the ramps at Exit 38 and Exit 42 from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday.  The work will require the H.O.V. lanes to be closed to traffic.

Paving is also scheduled for the Exit 38 (Route 75 Poquonnock Ave) NB off ramp, Exit 38 SB on ramp, and Exit 42 (Route 159) NB on and off ramps from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday. The right lane on I-91 north will also be closed at Exit 42 during these hours.

ADDITIONAL LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect nightly lane closures and temporary ramp closures 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and Friday as rain day.

The project consists of micro-milling of bridge decks, repairs to rutted sections of pavement, replacement of catch basin structures and median barrier and bridge joints.  The entire section of I-91 will then be overlaid with a thin surface treatment known as Ultra-thin bonded HMA which is one of several pavement preservation strategies used by the Department to extend the service life of the existing highway system.

DOT Project No. 0164-0234 was awarded to Water Construction Co. of Bridgeport, CT on June 1, 2011 at a cost of $6,232,533.40 and is scheduled for completion in December 2011.
