Third Thursday Presentation Kathy Hermes
On Thursday, May 18, 2023, Connecticut Explored Executive Director and Publisher Kathy Hermes led a discussion on some of the Greatest and Sometimes Most Difficult Stories to tell that are published in the magazine. In this discussion, Katherine explained the history and goals of the magazine and some of the challenges of writing about the history that many readers want while honestly confronting the state’s “hard history” in a magazine format. The Connecticut Explored magazine is a quarterly, non-profit glossy magazine that explores the state’s cultural heritage through intriguing images and compelling stories.
Katherine has created and been involved with several digital public history projects. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Institute for American Indian Studies. She has an A.B. in History from the University of California at Irvine; a J.D. from Duke University School of Law; and a Ph.D. in History from Yale University.
