Now available – print Braille-On-Demand
The Connecticut State Library for the Blind’s federal partner, the National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Print Disabled has launched a Braille-On-Demand pilot project. Braille-On-Demand is now available for patrons of the Connecticut State Library for the Blind (LBPH) patrons. This service allows active LBPH patrons to request and receive one hard-copy braille title per month, which they can retain for personal use.
Braille titles will be limited to those that are currently available on BARD, the NLS Braille and Audio Reading Download Service. At this time, requests are limited to one on-demand hard copy braille book per month. Only complete titles will be distributed. Requests for partial titles (for example, volume one of a three-volume book) will result in receiving the entire book.
The form to request a braille-on-demand book can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NLSbrailleondemand. Patrons may complete the form themselves or contact CT LAB for assistance. CT LAB staff can be reached by phone at (860) 704-2220 or (800) 842-4516, or by email at csl.accessiblebooks@ct.gov. Patrons may also contact NLS Reference at nlsref@loc.gov for assistance with completing the order form.
Please contact CT LAB with any questions or for assistance with placing a braille-on-demand order.
