Reference Services Group
Reference Services helps members of the public and government agencies use library resources and collections. It has three specialized reference units: Government Information, History and Genealogy, and Law and Legislative.
Collections Services Group
The Collection Services Group budgets, acquires, processes, preserves, and shares library materials. Our collections include print and online resources.
Discovery and Delivery
The Discovery and Delivery Department makes library resources easy to use by accurately classifying books, government documents, legal resources, maps, and newspapers.
The department is also responsible for Primo, which is the library's discovery tool. Primo is a joint service between the State Library and the state's seventeen state colleges and universities. The device supports students in their academic efforts.
Division of Library Development
The Division of Library Development provides leadership, funding, education, and statewide services. These services support local libraries in delivering high-quality services to their communities.
CT Library for Accessible Books, Division of Library Development
CT LAB lends books and magazines in audio and braille formats to Connecticut residents with visual, reading, or physical disabilities.
Museum of Connecticut History
The Museum of Connecticut History protects, preserves, and promotes the state's political, military, and industrial history. Exhibits include notable artifacts, images, and documents from the Connecticut State Library collection.
Office of the Public Records Administrator
The Public Records Office designs and implements a records management program. The program is for all state agencies within the executive department. Towns, cities, boroughs, districts, and other state political subdivisions also use the program.
State Archives
State Archives is responsible for managing and preserving official state records documenting public policy, citizens' rights, and the history of CT and its people.
