Welcome to the webpage for Project 0152-0164, Route 85 (Hartford Turnpike) Computerized Traffic Signal System (CTSS) Replacement in Waterford.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project was held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of the project is to replace the aging traffic signal infrastructure of ten signals along the Route 85 corridor. The replacement of the existing system will establish reliable communication between signalized intersections, upgrade traffic signal detection, reduce travel time, and use non-intrusive sensors to provide additional detection and visual capabilities.
The right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements are expected to be minimal and there will be newly installed sidewalks at some project intersections.
Construction is expected to start fall 2026, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $7.19 million with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
