June 11 to August 20, 2010
An exhibit featuring the art work of 18 Connecticut visual artists with disabilities was opened on June 11, 2010 at the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism Gallery located on the 2nd floor of One Constitution Plaza in Hartford.
Entitled “CHANGE,” the juried exhibit was organized by the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism (CCT) and Young Audiences Arts for Learning Connecticut, an affiliate of VSA, the international organization on arts and disability.
The exhibit showcases the creativity and talent of Connecticut artists with disabilities and was organized in response to the desire of Connecticut artists with disabilities to have an opportunity to showcase their work. The exhibit will be fully accessible to artists and visitors, regardless of abilities.
The art works were selected from submissions received in response to a Call for Entries open to all Connecticut artists, ages 16 and up, with a disability. Jurors for “CHANGE” included Stephanie Moore, Director of Visual Arts, national VSA, Washington, D.C., and Sal Scalora, former Director of Benton Museum at University of Connecticut in Storrs.
