About Legislative Affairs

The Department of Developmental Services' (DDS) Office of Legislative Affairs is responsible for the DDS' legislative program.  These responsibilities include proposing and developing legislative initiatives; participating in policy drafting and management; and tracking legislation throughout the session that may impact individuals eligible for or receiving funding or services from DDS, DDS employees, DDS qualified providers and other stakeholders.  Legislative Affairs, also, responds to legislative inquiries on programs and services of the department; works with legislators and their staff to resolve constituent issues and fosters intra-governmental relations.  In addition, the Office of Legislative Affairs is responsible for overseeing the drafting and approval of the agency’s regulations.
