Adulthood - Planning for the Future
Planning for the Future
Questions Your Child Will Want You to Ask:  How do I find a self advocacy group?  Am I being assertive without being aggressive?  Have you helped me to communicate my wants in needs, even if I cannot talk?  Do you and others understand what is important to me?  Have you helped me understand my choices, like moving out of my family home and other options? Can I be alone or in my home or community without help?  If not, what kinds of supports do I need?  What should I do if I am being abused by a significant other, support staff, or someone I live with?  Do I understand my rights and responsibilities when it comes to dealing with providers, agencies, and other sources of support?
