DDS Fire Safety and Emergency Guidelines
The 2025 edition of the DDS Fire Safety & Emergency Guidelines reflects a modern approach to Fire and Life Safety and the All-Hazards Approach to Emergency Preparedness. The document is organized to be the single reference document for both DDS Regions, Public and Private Divisions, and fire code officials. In this edition, the user can reference DDS and Connecticut requirements and report compliance to DDS using the attached forms. This document references: current best practices for fire and life safety; Fire and Life Safety Code; Fire Prevention Code; and Building Codes governing the residential and day-program settings supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
