RE: FOOD RECALL ADVISORY:   Recall of Market Pantry Salad Products Sold at Target Stores
Food Recall Advisory
The State of CT Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Section announced on August 10, 2012 the following food recall:
Garden Fresh Foods, Milwaukee, WI is voluntarily recalling various salad products that are sold at Target stores because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported to date. The salad products are part of the larger Gills Onions, LLC of Oxnard, CA recall of various salad products that was initiated because they may contain onions that are contaminated L. monocytogenes.
This recall notice is being sent to local health departments in case inquiries from concerned consumers are received. Although food service establishments typically purchase foods from wholesale distributors, it is possible that this recalled food may have been purchased direct from the retailer.
A Food Safety & Quality Assurance representative from Target reports:
  • All items were initially pulled and “hardlocked” at the cash registers at the impacted stores on Friday 07/27.
  • Stores began carrying out their Destroy-via-compactor actions on Tuesday 07/31.
  • Not all stores carried all 15-items.
  • Not all stores received the recalled date codes, thus some stores may carry the item but were not instructed to pull the item if they were not shipped the recalled date codes.
  • “Fresh” product (not involved in the recall) will start to ship to many of our stores over the next several days/week.
