Food Contamination Advisory May 11, 2010:
The State of Connecticut. Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Section announced on May 11, 2010 that The United States Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is warning consumers to avoid various deli meats produced by Zadi Foods Ltd., CFIA Establishment 665, located in Brampton, Ontario that are subject to a current recall in Canada due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
It is believed that the recalled product was also exported and distributed nationally within the United States.  The deli meats affected would have been sold to customers at retail stores through the deli counter. These products include but are not limited to the following:
  • "Casa Italia Gastronomia Prosciutto"
  • "Casa Italia Gastronomia Prosciutto Boneless"
  • "Casa Italia Gastronomia Prosciutto Mattonella"
  • "Casa Italia Prosciutto Boneless"
  • "Casa Italia Prosciutto Boneless Sliced"
  • "Casa Italia Prosciutto Ham Sliced"
  • "Emma Dry Prosciutto"
All lots and production dates for the above-listed products are subject to this public health alert.
Consumers reporting illness should be advised to contact their primary care physician for proper follow-up and treatment.
