Medication Administration Endorsed Instructor Program

Under the regulation the DDS approved medication administration training course must be taught by a registered nurse, medical doctor, or pharmacist who is endorsed to do so.

The Department requires the potential instructor, working for the department or its provider agencies, to successfully complete an endorsement training program and maintain the biennial endorsement in order to teach the DDS approved program within their agency.

This 5-day training program is offered once a year based on need and includes: DDS regulations, policies, procedures, and advisories pertaining to medication administration; instruction and return demonstration in the 21-hour med admin curriculum including the laboratory practicum and checklist A and B; as well as a train the trainer component on presentation methodologies and adult learning.  In addition all potential instructors must audit the DDS Medication Administration Training Program prior to attending the Endorsement program.

In addition to new instructors, all current endorsed instructors are invited to attend to refresh their knowledge base and presentation style.
