Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Remediation Standard Regulations & Compliance Measures

The Remediation Division's goal is to clean up contaminated sites to meet the Remediation Standard Regulations, which ensure protection of human health and the environment. The 2021 amendments provide additional flexibility while maintaining or increasing the degree of protectiveness.

Release-Based Clean Up Program Regulation Development

Under a release-based system, Connecticut’s cleanup framework will be aligned with 48 other states and will maintain environmental protections important to the state’s public health, water, and natural resources. DEEP and DECD co-chair a working group to receive advice and feedback for regulations to be adopted by DEEP.
