The 79 Elm Street Property is a six-story brick and terra-cotta building designed in the Italian Renaissance style. It was completed in 1920 for the Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company. The building was renovated in 1990, and an addition was constructed, which is connected to the building by an atrium. This historic, modernized facility provides office space to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
