  1. Does Connecticut issue a Managing General Agent (MGA) license?

    No, Connecticut does not issue a specific Managing General Agent (MGA) license. However, if you are entering into an MGA agreement, you are required to:
    • Hold an active Connecticut Producer license.
    • Have an active appointment from an insurer authorized to conduct business in Connecticut.
    • Submit a Managing General Agent Agreement Notification to the Connecticut Insurance Department within 30 days of entering into or terminating the agreement.
    • The Insurer must also file the MGA Agreement Notification with the Department when the agreement is established or terminated. Please submit the notification to cid.licensing@ct.gov.


  2. Are fidelity bonds required to obtain a regular Managing General Agent (MGA) license in Connecticut?

    No. Connecticut does not issue a Managing General Agent (MGA) license. You are not required to obtain fidelity bonds for individuals or business entities entering into an MGA agreement.
