  1. What lines of authority are available for a casualty adjuster?

    There are four lines of authority for a casualty adjuster:
    • All Lines (including Workers’ Compensation)
    • All Lines except Workers' Compensation
    • Workers' Compensation only
    • Auto only


  2. How can I downgrade my Casualty Adjuster license?

    Do not submit a new application or fees to downgrade your license. To request a downgrade, email the Connecticut Insurance Department at cid.licensing@ct.gov with the subject line: “Downgrade Adjuster.”

    Be sure to include:
    • Full legal name
    • National Producer Number (NPN)
    • Line(s) of authority (LOA) you wish to downgrade to
    • Reason for the downgrade

    There is no fee to downgrade. Available downgrade options include:
    • All Lines → All Lines except Workers’ Compensation
    • All Lines → Workers’ Compensation only
    • All Lines → Auto only
    • All Lines except Workers’ Compensation → Workers’ Compensation only
    • All Lines except Workers’ Compensation → Auto only

    Note: A new application and fees are only required if you are upgrading your authority.

  3. When do I renew my adjuster license?

    Individual licenses: Birth Month every OTHER year.
    Business Entity licenses: June 30th every ODD year.

    Renewal applications may be submitted through NIPR 90-days prior to the expiration date.

  4. Do I need Continuing Education (CE) to renew my adjuster license?

    No. Connecticut does not require Continuing Education (CE) for adjuster license renewals.
