The Department of Social Services is working to distribute the one-time $300 grocery card to those who have lost their SNAP benefits due to federal changes in the rules of eligibility. We expect this benefit to be available around August and will let the public know how they can request it. Changes to SNAP and HUSKY Health work rules can be hard to understand. But many people will not lose their benefits. The Department of Social Services has made two prescreeners available - one for SNAP and one for HUSKY - to determine whether these changes apply to you. HUSKY A Program Overview

HUSKY A, also known as Medicaid, is Connecticut’s public health coverage program for children up to age 19, parents, caretaker relatives, and pregnant individuals within certain income guidelines.

The coverage includes:

  • Medical coverage
  • Preventative care
  • Emergency services

  • Vision coverage
  • Prescription drugs 

Who is eligible?

  • Connecticut children with a household income at or below 201% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
  • Parents or caretaker relatives with household incomes at or below 138% of the FPL
  • Pregnant individuals if household income is at or below 263% of the FPL

How to Apply

  • Apply online: Create an account and apply online through Access Health CT
  • Apply by phone: Call Access Health CT at 1-855-805-4325
  • Apply by mail: Complete the paper application ‘AH3’ and mail it to Access Health CT, P.O. Box 670 Manchester, CT 06045-0670
