Ombudsperson Responsibilities

The Ombudsperson:


  • Listens to questions, complaints, and concerns.
  • Serves as a resource for information.
  • Finds answers, makes referrals, and explains DDS policies and procedures.
  • Offers neutral consultation and facilitates fair and equitable solutions.
  • Monitors state and federal laws and regulations and agency policies affecting the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Reports monthly to the Council on Developmental Services.
  • Reports yearly to the Legislature.
