Updating Document Properties

There are two properties that you can change for a document:

  • The Content Title
  • The Teaser

The Content Title gives the document a more meaningful title when displayed in search results or when tagged in a list. By default, Sitecore will use the document file name as the Content Tile. Updating the Content Title will help with search results and is more user friendly when the document is viewed in a listing.

The Teaser is a brief description of the document. It is displayed under the Content Title when the document is tagged in agency navigation or list.

Here is what the document looks like when tagged in a list before a change to the Content Title and without a Teaser:

  1. Log into Sitecore.
  2. Right-click the Sitecore image Sitecore Platform icon in the top left of the screen and open it in a new tab.
  3. In the new tab, Select the Media Library Media Library icon icon.
  4. In the Content Tree on the left, navigate to the document you want to edit.
  5. Select the document. It will have a blue highlight around it.
  6. On the right in the Content tab, you will see the Lock and Edit yellow alert at the top.

  7. Select Lock and Edit. You can now edit the document.
  8. On the right, find the Base Data section.

  9. Find the Content Title. This is where you can change the display name to make it more meaningful. There are no character restrictions here.

  10. Below the Content Title is the Teaser.

    By default, the Teaser will be empty.

  11. Select the Save icon Save icon at the top left of the screen.
  12. Select the Edit icon Edit icon to display drop down options and select Check in iconCheck In.
  13. Publish the document for the change to take affect. System Administrator ONLY.
    • NOTE: If you are a Content Author, you will need a System Administrator to publish the Media Library file to complete the process.
