NOTICE:

Connecticut passed new legislation requiring DSS to spread out SNAP benefit issuance dates throughout the month rather than concentrating them in the first few days. Read up on the changes that start March 1.

DSS benefits have changed due to the federal budget reconciliation bill (H.R.1). Find out how it will impact you on our website, which answers questions about work requirements and exemptions for SNAP and HUSKY (Medicaid).

Summer EBT - S-EBT

Overview

S-EBT is a permanent, nationwide program that began the summer of 2024. It is a result of a federal law called the Consolidated Appropriations Act passed in December 2022. It gives families with children extra benefits, like SNAP, to help pay for food in the summer.

S-EBT is not new to CT, we were one of the pioneers of this program, piloting it in 2011. S-EBT helps to lower food insecurity and increases access to healthy food.

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is the lead agency that runs the program, and partners with the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE).
