The Additional Low Income Medicare Beneficiaries (ALMB) program pays for your Medicare Part B (medical insurance) premium. It is subject to available program funding. You are not eligible for this program if you receive Medicaid.

ALMB only pays for your Part B premium.
You are not eligible for this program if you receive Medicaid.
ALMB recipients are automatically enrolled in the low-income subsidy (LIS), also called “extra help.” The LIS pays for one of the following:
• The full cost of a Medicare Part D (prescription coverage) benchmark plan
• A portion of a non-benchmark plan, yearly deductibles, and either co-insurance or co-pays.
This benefit also allows you to change your Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage plan(s) outside of the open enrollment period.
Who is eligible?
- Connecticut resident
- Must have Medicare Part A
- Cannot be receiving Medicaid (HUSKY)
Income limits:
Income limits for 2025 (these may change from year to year)
- Individual monthly: $3,209
- Married monthly: $4,336
Asset limit:
Connecticut does not have an asset limit for Medicare Savings Programs.
How to Apply:
Apply online: Visit www.connect.ct.gov and click “Apply for Benefits.”
Apply by mail: Complete the appropriate form and mail it to DSS ConneCT Scanning Center, PO Box 1320, Manchester, CT 06045.
