Portable Electronics (Business Entity ONLY)

PORTABLE ELECTRONICS – Insurance covering the repair or replacement of a portable electronic device due to loss, theft, mechanical failure, malfunction, damage, or other similar causes of loss.

Portable electronics insurance does NOT include:

  • An extended warranty as defined in C.G.S. §42-260;
  • An insurance policy covering a seller’s or manufacturer’s obligations under a warranty; or
  • A homeowners, renters, or other insurance policy that includes similar coverage.

Renewal: $450.00
No pro-rating, non-refundable $100.00 application fee.

Two (2) years – Expired January 31st each EVEN-numbered year.

Apply through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR).

Applicants must complete the following and attach it to the NIPR Attachment Warehouse:

A Designated Responsible Licensed Person (DRLP) is a licensed individual appointed by a business entity to be responsible for the entity’s insurance license. In many license types, a DRLP is required to ensure the business entity has appropriate licensed oversight.

Portable Electronics License Exception:

A DRLP is NOT required for a Portable Electronics license.

Business entities applying for this license type do not need to designate or maintain a DRLP, even though this license is issued to business entities only.

Renewal notices are emailed approximately 90 days before the expiration date.
