Alternative (alt) text helps customers who rely on screen readers understand the content and purpose of images. It also improves search engine optimization and supports accessibility standards.
You should add alt text if an image conveys important content or context.
Example:
Alt text: Line graph showing a 25% increase in website traffic over six months.
You do not need to add alt text for decorative images (e.g., photos used purely for visual interest or mood that don’t add meaning to the page — such as a photo of people in a lobby or city skyline). In those cases, leave the alt field blank.
