Image Component

Images are a terrific way to inform the user as an alternative to the written word while adding visual interest to text-heavy pages. Our dedicated component has the image (photo, illustration, logo, etc.) with an optional hyperlink.

Usage

Our image component is uniquely handy for photos or graphics independent of our visually-based components. Images hyperlinked to location services or other external sites are a prime example. This may sound like our Lead Story component when presented next to detail rich texts, but those images can't be hyperlinked.

Images need to be formatted to our design system standard of 600 x 400 pixels. Lower resolutions look pixelated on screen, and larger images strain our limited storage capacity.

When uploading to the media library, be sure to include alternative text for accessibility. Only use images from your website's media library folder. Assets belonging to other sites may have limited usage rights issues, or can get modified or deleted at any time.

Use keywords in your headers and make the most of your page’s ability to attract traffic. Headers are a great place to add search engine-optimized (SEO) keywords or phrases.

Variations

The image component only requires a picture from the Sitecore media library. Captions and hyperlinks are optional.
