The steps to becoming a teacher

Aspiring teachers typically complete three main steps to become a teacher:

  1. Take a college entrance exam. Please note that each program sets its own enrollment requirements and may not require a college entrance exam.
  2. Complete an approved educator preparation program
  3. Pass a content area assessment

If you’d like to teach students about a trade or occupation, please visit this page about becoming a vocational teacher.
