Electric and gas utilities have begun notifying residential customers with unpaid and/or past-due balances that if they do not take action and contact their utility to enroll in a payment plan, they are at risk of having their gas services terminated on Thursday, May 2, 2024. If your household has received a notification from your utility company, please contact them directly to set up a payment plan to keep your services on. These plans charge no interest, and all customers qualify at least once for one or more of these plans. After engaging with utility providers, customers may also contact PURA’s customer affairs unit for specific questions regarding payment arrangements. View eligibility, utility contact information

Call Before You Dig

Call Before You Dig (CBYD) is a program established to protect the public safety with regard to excavations near underground facilities by providing a communications link between excavators, public agencies, and public utilities.  Excavation damage to underground utility facilities can cause fires and explosions, injuries, deaths, and significant disruptions to public utility service.  Excavators must call CBYD prior to digging, and then CBYD will notify all utilities that might be in the area.  Utilities will then locate their pipes and cables using paint and stakes, so excavators can conduct their work without causing damage.  The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) oversees the program, and may assess civil penalties in the thousands of dollars for any party who violates the Statutes and Regulations.

To have your utilities located, contact CBYD by calling 811 or 1-800-922-4455.

If you have questions regarding the CBYD program, please contact the PURA Call Before You Dig Unit:
