Comprehensive Water Planning Process/CT Water Planning Council

In recent years, Connecticut’s General Assembly renewed efforts for water resource planning with the passing of Public Act 14-163, which directed the Water Planning Council to develop a State Water Plan for the management of the water resources of the state. The overarching goal for such a plan was to balance the needs of public water supply, economic development, recreation and ecological health.

 

 

 


Governor's Council on Climate Change

On September 3, 2019, Governor Ned Lamont issued Executive Order No.3, re-establishing and expanding the membership and responsibilities of the Governor’s Council on Climate Change, also known as the GC3. In addition to continuing to address mitigation strategies to reduce greenhouse gases, the newly expanded GC3 will also consider adaptation and resilience in the face of climate change impacts.

PURA Issues Ruling on Utilities’ Preparation for, Response to Tropical Storm Isaias

On April 28, 2021, PURA issued a ruling finding that The Connecticut Light and Power Company d/b/a Eversource Energy (Eversource) and The United Illuminating Company (UI) each did not meet certain acceptable performance standards in preparing for, and responding to, Tropical Storm Isaias.

 

 

 

PURA Establishes Statewide Electric Storage Program

On July 28, 2021, PURA issued a final decision as part of its Equitable Modern Grid initiative that establishes a nine-year, statewide Electric Storage Program for all residential, commercial, and industrial customers in an effort to foster a more reliable and resilient electric distribution system.
