Experience Editor Ribbon

 

The Experience Editor Ribbon at the top of the page provides you with all the available functionality needed to manage your website.

Experience Editor Ribbon Home tab

The Experience Editor Ribbon tabs expand when you select the toggle ribbon icon Ribbon show arrow found to the right. Expanding the ribbon displays the functions available for each tab. Select on the icon expand ribbon toggle again to hide the functions.

Regardless of the tab you are viewing, you can always:

  • Edit the page
  • Preview the page
  • Save changes to the page

 

 

HOME tab

Experience Editor Ribbon - Home Tab

The Home tab allows you to:

  • Edit - Edit the page you are viewing
  • Other - View the page in Preview Mode
  • Insert Page - Insert a page
  • Delete Page - Delete a page or folder (System Administrators Only)
  • Move Page - Move the page or folder to a different location (System Administrators Only)
  • Rename - Modify the page file name that gets displayed in the URL
  • My Items - View a list of all pages locked (checked out) by you and perform a global unlock (check in) of them, or select the pages you wish to check in
  • Lock - Lock (check out) the page so others cannot modify it while locked (Unlock - Check in the page so others can modify it)
  • Workbox - View a list of all your pages in Draft that need submitting for review (Pages must be assigned a workflow to show up)
  • Settings - Set a publish date/time in the future (start and end date) that the page will be allowed to be published
  • Markup - Check that HTML markup is valid by sending all HTML fields to the W3C Validator
  • Validation - View the W3C Validator results
  • Close - Closes the Ribbon

 

PRESENTATION tab

Experience Editor Ribbon - Presentation Tab 

The Presentation tab allows you to:

  • Edit - Edit the page you are viewing
  • Other - View the page in Preview Mode
  • Aliases - Add or remove URL aliases for the page (System Administrators Only)
  • Associated Content - Content on the page that originates from another item (navigation, breadcrumb, content, etc).

 

EXPERIENCE tab

The Experience tab allows you to:

  • Edit - Edit the page you are viewing
  • Other - View the page in Preview Mode
  • Date - Modify the current date and time of the page when published in Preview

 

VERSIONS tab

Experience Editor Ribbon - Versions Tab

The Versions tab allows you to:

  • Edit - Edit the page you are viewing
  • Other - View the page in Preview Mode
  • Versions - View prior versions of the page and remove the current version of the page being displayed
  • Add - Add a versions of the page
  • Compare - Compare two versions of the page
  • Language - Modify the current language display

 

VIEW tab

Experience Editor Ribbon - View Tab

The View tab allows you to:

  • Edit - Edit the page you are viewing
  • Other - View the page in Preview Mode
  • Controls - Show or hide controls in the editing areas (System Administrators Only)
  • Control bar - Show or hide the control bar
  • Navigation bar - Show or hide the navigation bar

 

Select the View tab and select the the Navigation bar checkbox to permanently display the navigation bar. This allows you to navigate through your website and see folders and web pages organized on the back-end.
