When an agency website goes through the State of Connecticut’s website modernization process, the team rebuilds the main home page and other highly visited, prominent pages using the State’s new component‑based design system. These important pages are optimized during the project so they follow current digital standards and use CT.gov components.
All remaining pages that are not part of the optimization scope are scripted over. Scripting copies the rest of the existing site into the new CT.gov scaffolding so the pages can be managed in Sitecore going forward.
During scripting, pages are brought into Sitecore exactly as they are. This includes the original navigation and page names. All content is transferred, including HTML and embedded code. Styles are updated so colors, fonts, and display properties match the State’s design system. The new CT.gov header and footer also appear on migrated pages.
Developers should note that any existing errors or broken links in the current agency site will remain in the migrated content.
