Logins and passwords

You’ll receive your Sitecore username and password before you begin working in the system—usually before training. This lets you log in, practice, and get familiar with the tools. Use this guide to log in, reset a forgotten password, or change your password when it’s about to expire.

Sitecore passwords expire every 90 days. Fourteen days before expiration, you will receive a daily email reminder with a link to change your password.

Log into Sitecore

1. Go to the correct Sitecore login page:
   • Training/Staging site (practice or training): https://authoring-staging.ct.gov/sitecore/
   • Live/Production site (real content updates): https://authoring.ct.gov/sitecore/login (copy and paste into your browser)

   Tip: Use the training site during onboarding or class sessions. Use the live site for real content updates.

2. Select the correct login option

   Click State Agency User Login.

   Important: Do not use the Username and Password fields on this screen. They will not work for Sitecore accounts.

   
3. Sign in with your Sitecore username

   On the Microsoft login screen, select Use another account,  
   then enter your Sitecore username: firstname.lastname@ct.egov.com
    

   If this is your first time signing in, you’ll need to type it manually. After that, it will appear in your account list.

4. Enter your Sitecore password

   Use the temporary password sent to you in the account‑creation email.

   

   Important: The Forgot my password link will not work for first‑time logins. If you don’t have your temporary password, follow the steps in Forgot password.

5. Choose whether to stay signed in
   • Yes – Saves your login for next time
   • No – Requires login each time

After signing in, you’ll land on the Sitecore Launchpad, where you can access Content Editor, Media Library, Experience Editor, and other tools.

Forgot password

Once you have a Sitecore account, you can reset your password anytime by following the steps below.

1. On the Sitecore login screen, click Forgot your password?
    
   Or go directly to CT.gov User Management Login and select Forgot Password?
2. Enter your CT.gov email address

   Use your CT.gov email (for example, firstname.lastname@ct.gov). Do not enter your Sitecore username ending in @ct.egov.com.

3. Complete the reCAPTCHA
   • Click the refresh icon to get new images.
   • Click the audio icon to hear the challenge read aloud.
   
4. Click Send Password. You will receive an email with a link to create a new password.
5. Create your new password

   Your password must meet these requirements:

   • At least 7 characters
   • One uppercase letter
   • One lowercase letter
   • One number
   • One special character
   • Cannot include your username
   • Cannot use common dictionary words
   • Cannot be a previously used password

   Click Reset Password. 

   
   If both fields match and meet all requirements, you’ll see a success message and receive a confirmation email.
   

   Note: It can take up to 45 minutes for a new or reset password to begin working.

Change password

Sitecore passwords expire every 90 days. You’ll receive daily reminder emails starting 14 days before expiration.

1. Go to CT.gov User Management Login.
2. Enter your Sitecore username and password, then click Log In.
3. Select Change Password under Account Maintenance.

   Important: Do not click Change E-Mail or Update Profile Information—these options do not work for Sitecore accounts.

4. Enter your current password, then a new password that meets all requirements listed above.
5. Confirm the new password and click Change Password.
   
   

   You’ll see a success screen if both passwords match and meet all requirements. You will also receive a confirmation email.
