About temporary emergency coaching permit applications in CT


A temporary emergency coaching permit allows an individual to coach intramural or interscholastic athletics in kindergarten through grade 12 while employed by a board of education. The permit is good for one year from the date it is issued.

To receive a temporary emergency coaching permit, the school district should apply using form ED 186, providing proof that the applicant for a temporary emergency coaching permit has met the following requirements:

 

  • 18 years old or over;
  • Holds a high school diploma or its equivalent; and
  • Completed successfully, not earlier than one year prior to the date of application, a standard first aid course and CPR certification. Please note: CPR and first aid courses must be completed in person. Online-only formats will not be accepted.
  • Completion of Module 15 - Concussion and Neck Injury Management
  • For one additional renewal issued to the same district, please include verification of enrollment into the required coaching course.
