EMS Instructor Renewal of Certification
To qualify for renewal/recertification an EMS Instructor must renew before the expiration date of the certification and the following requirements must be met:
- Hold current certification from NREMT.
- Accrue 50 contact hours, to include:
- 35 hours of teaching in OEMS approved courses, over at least 5 categories
- 5 hours of attending OEMS approved continuing education for the EMSI
- 10 hours of EITHER teaching or attending the above
In order to receive OEMS renewal notices, applicants are required to provide a current email address within their e-license account. A renewal notice will be emailed 3 months prior to the posted expiration date. Applicants are given a 3 month grace period after the expiration date. If the credential is not renewed by the end of the 3 month grace period, the certification will expire and the applicant can no longer practice as an EMS Instructor. Documentation Requirements:
- A completed renewal online application on the Connecticut eLicense website for EMS instructor renewal.
- Renewal applicants are no longer required to submit documentation of teaching hours or CEU. Maintain these records for inspection at the request of DPH.
