Safety and Traffic Operational Improvements on CT Route 4 from Garden Street to Mountain Spring Road in the Town of Farmington
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled nightly closure and detour of the northern section of Route 10 (Waterville Road) at the intersection of Route 4 in the Town of Farmington on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 and on Thursday, October 26, 2017 between the hours of 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.  Starting Friday, October 27, 2017 a temporary traffic shift for staged construction will begin on Route 4 (Farmington Avenue) between the intersection at Garden Street and the intersection at High Street in the Town of Farmington.  All work is weather permitting.
The closure is necessary to facilitate paving operations for the reconstruction of Route 4, Farmington Avenue. The traffic shift is necessary to facilitate the installation of new storm drainage and roadway construction associated with the reconstruction of Route 4 (Farmington Avenue).

Project No. 0051-0260 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut, Inc. of New Britain, Connecticut on January 20, 2016 at a cost of $12,224,171.69 and is scheduled to be completed in June 2018.  The project is being administered by Office of Construction District 4, Thomaston.
DETOUR / LANE CLOSURE INFO
A Detour will be in place for Route 10, north of the Route 4 intersection from October 25 to October 27. This Detour route will utilize Town Farm Road and Old Farms Road.  A separate detour will be place for Route 10, south of the Route 4 intersection. This Detour will utilize Garden Street and Mill Lane for the Route 4 EB traffic. High Street and Mountain Road will be utilized for Route 4 WB Traffic.Detour signs will be posted along with Farmington and Avon Police assisting with traffic control.
The new temporary traffic pattern for stage construction is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 27, 2017 and will last for approximately two (2) months. After which a new temporary traffic pattern will be announced and implemented for the next stage.
One lane will be maintained in each direction for Route 4 WB and Route 4 EB. Turning lanes will be maintained at the intersection of Route 4 with Garden Street and Route 10. Route 4 EB and Route 4 WB will be shifted to the north onto the previous Route 4 WB lanes.
