Nighttime Pavement Preservation on Route 8 Northbound in Trumbull, Stratford

and Shelton; Detours Required

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the nighttime pavement preservation project on Route 8 Northbound in Trumbull, Stratford and Shelton is beginning the week of Monday, September 14, and should be concluded by Friday, September 25, 2015.

      The project begins at mile 4.79 (Before Exit 8) and ends at mile 11.67 (On Ramp for Interchange 13) Northbound. The project consists of fine milling 3” of the wearing surface and replacing it with 3” of Polymer Modified Asphalt. Replacement of the top 1.5” of the wearing surface on all ramps within the project limits will also take place.

      Detours are required at the northbound ramps to facilitate the milling and paving operations.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

      The regular work schedule for this project is from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (Monday thru Friday).

      The following ramp closures have been scheduled:

    • Week of September 14th through 18th:  Exit 12 interchange (on and off ramps)
    • Week of September 14th through 18th:  Exits 8 and 9 interchange (on and off ramps)
    • Week of September 21th through 25th:  Exit 13 interchange (on and off ramps)

      Only one on or off ramp will be closed at a given time.  Detour signs will guide motorists through. 

      Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
