Traffic Switch to Occur for Ongoing Reconstruction of Farmington River Bridge in Farmington on Friday, June 12, 2009
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the commencement of the Stage 2  traffic switch for the Reconstruction of Bridge # 0431, Route 4 over the Farmington River, in the Town of Farmington is scheduled to begin on Friday evening June 12, 2009, weather permitting.
The project consists of the new construction of Bridge #0431, Route 4 over the Farmington River and widening and safety improvements on Route 4 at Town Farm Drive.
Stage one of Construction has been completed.  The realignment of traffic will be utilizing the newly constructed bridge structure to route traffic over the Farmington River.  Construction activities will then be focused on the Stage 2 demolition and reconstruction for the next construction year.

The contract was awarded to Middlesex Corporation of Littleton, MA on March 4, 2008 at a cost of $20,286,375.00 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2010.
Motorists can expect alternating one way traffic throughout the project Monday through Friday from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am and 8:00 pm to 6:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays.
The contractor is allowed to halt traffic for up to 10 minutes to facilitate construction activities.
