The State Department of Transportation announced today that the ongoing water main installation project being performed on Route 148 in Chester will require a detour.  A portion of Ridge Road to Route 148 including sections of Straits Road and Spring Street will be closed in Chester.  This project is scheduled to continue through Friday, September 18, 2009.  A posted detour will be in effect while the work is being performed.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.  The regular work schedule for this project is from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday).

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.
