Limited Access Highways and Parkways

A limited access highway is designed to carry large volumes of traffic at generally high speeds and has controlled access with on and off ramps.

A parkway is a type of limited access highway that is landscaped and was originally designed for recreational driving of automobiles, providing a scenic route without commercial vehicles, at grade intersections, or pedestrian traffic.
