Content Editor Ribbon

The Content Editor Ribbon at the top of the page provides you with all the available functionality needed to manage your website. The tabs include:

 

HOME tab

Content Editor Ribbon: Home tab

When viewing a page you have access to, the Home tab allows you to:

  • Save - Save changes to the page you are editing
  • Edit - Edit the page (remove it from Preview mode). When in Edit mode, the drop down offers two functions;
    • Check In - Check the page in to unlock it so others with access can edit the page
    • Submit - Submit the page for approval to the Content Approver
    • By-Pass Approval - Publish the Page without going through the Approval process
  • Insert - Insert a folder, a template page, or a sub page
  • Duplicate - Duplicate the folder or page. It will duplicate the file name with "Copy of" appended to the file name.
  • Copy to - Copy the folder or page to another area
  • Move to - Move the folder or page to a different area
  • Delete - Delete the folder, page, or all pages under a folder
  • Rename - Modify the file name appearing in the url
  • Display Name - Modify the file name appearing in the content tree
  • Sorting - Change the order of the folders or pages listed on the content tree

 

NAVIGATE tab

Content Editor Ribbon: Navigate tab

The Navigate tab allows you to get to files or areas of your website at the click of a button. You can:

  • Save - Save changes to the page
  • Open - Open a folder or file that was either recently opened or navigation to one from the content tree
  • Navigate - Navigate back, forward, or up to the previously selected file in the content tree
  • Subitems - Navigate the files in the content tree
  • Home - Jump to the home page
  • Favorites - Jump to files you saved as "favorites"
  • Links - Displays links on the page and any associated content on the page that originates from another item (navigation, breadcrumb, content, etc).
  • Search - Perform a search for a folder or file

 

REVIEW tab

Content Editor Ribbon: Review tab

The Review tab allows you to check parts of your page. You can:

  • Save - Save changes to the page
  • Spelling - Run a spellcheck on all content and HTML fields on the page
  • Markup - Check that HTML markup is valid by sending all HTML fields to the W3C Validator
  • Validation - View the W3C Validator results
  • Subscribe - Subscribe to the RSS feeds on the selected file and any sub-files
  • My Items - View all files locked by you and perform a global unlock of them all
  • Check In - Check the page in (Unlock it)
  • History - View a history of the page properties
  • By-Pass Approval - Publish the page without approval needed
  • Submit - Submit the page to an Approver to review
  • Reminder - Set, schedule, and cancel email reminders
  • Archive - Archive the page

 

PUBLISH tab

Content Editor Ribbon: Publish tab

The Publish tab allows you to:

  • Save - Save changes to the page
  • Change - Change the restrictions on a file or page
  • Publish Content - Publish the folder or page
  • Experience Editor - View or edit the page in Experience Editor mode
  • Preview - View the page in Preview mode
  • Publishing Viewer - View the publishing dates of each page version

 

VERSIONS tab

Content Editor Ribbon: Versions tab

The Versions tab allows you to:

  • Save - Save changes to the page
  • Reset - Reset all field values found in the content area
  • Versions - View prior versions of the page and remove the current version of the page being displayed
  • Add - Remove versions of the page
  • Compare - Compare versions of the page
  • Remove - Remove versions of the page
  • Language - Modify the current language

 

PRESENTATION tab

Content Editor Ribbon: Presentation tab

The Presentation tab allows you to:

  • Save - Save changes to the page
  • Aliases - Create or remove URL aliases (friendly URLs) for the page
  • Associated Content - Content on a page that originates from another item (navigation, breadcrumb, content, etc).

 

VIEW tab

Content Editor Ribbon: View tab

The View tab allows you to:

  • Save - Save changes to the page
  • View - Hide or view different components of the content editor window
    • Content tree - Show or hide the content tree in the left pane
    • Entire tree - Show or hide the folders and pages outside the "Content" folder
    • Hidden items - Show or hide items marked with a hidden attribute
    • Standard fields - Show or hide items from the standard template (system fields)
    • Raw values - Show field values as input boxes or raw values
    • Buckets - Show or hide the bucket repository items

 

MY TOOLBAR tab

The My Toolbar tab allows you to:

  • Save - Save changes to the page
  • Customize - Customize the buttons on this tab for easy access
